Design Concept

A Quest for Beauty in the Detail, Through Time and Space.

For centuries, people have looked to the movements of the stars to measure time, while their infinite expanse has shaped our sense of space. Their ceaseless orbits and ordered motion create a beautiful interplay of time and space.

Inspired by the sweeping curves and overlapping paths of these celestial orbits, the movement layout and bridge forms of this model have been designed to echo their rhythm. The result is a new expression of skeleton design, where mechanical motion and sculptural form come together in rich harmony.

Hairline finishing creates fine, parallel lines across the surface in a uniform direction. Precisely executed, these delicate lines create an even texture and a soft lustre, accentuating the depth and beauty of the skeleton structure.

Skilled artisans carefully apply black ink into the grooves of each component, wiping away the excess to achieve a precise finish. The subtle interplay of light and shadow accentuates the flowing curves, lending rich expression and depth to the celestial orbit-inspired design.

Blue-tempering is a traditional technique in which metal is heated to create its distinctive colour through an oxide layer. Precise temperature control and skilled craftsmanship ensure a uniform blue hue across every component, from the skeletonised hour and minute hands to the screws. It reflects an uncompromising attention to beauty, down to the finest detail.

The pursuit of skeleton watchmaking at Orient Star began in 1991 with the Mon Bijou. In 1998 came Orient Star’s first Skeleton, transforming the idea of showcasing the movement into a form of expression that would come to define the brand. In 2021, the introduction of a silicon escape wheel opened up new possibilities not only in beauty, but also in watch performance.
